These little guys have kept me smiling and giggling all week. They’re moving around like they’re inebriated and *trying* to play with one another — but all movements are in slow motion. That is, until it’s time to eat! Ha! They scurry so fast to mama when she enters the whelping box and turn into little piranhas at meal time.
Big news of the week: All of these pups have homes waiting for them!
Below are updated photos and weights at 3 weeks old.
This week we started our 10-step handling exercises and continued daily weights. I also have started conditioning them to different sounds they may be exposed to — specifically loud, sudden noises. They are currently at the age where they do not yet fear sound, so we are jump starting their desensitization to it. My goal is to slowly and safely condition them to lots of different scenarios they may encounter as they grow. You can watch a video of the handling exercises from our last litter by clicking HERE. We do this because my relationship with them is their first relationship with a human, and it’s critical I make it a positive one — so gentle and safe is key!
